About Music Today

Our design concept focused on emphasising the quality of music offered by Music Today – not just the best quality of sound, but the best quality of music. In order to popularise the brand with the largest demographic possible, our design included five separate personalities that covered the whole ambit of music-listeners. These personalities were also representative of the range of music offered by Music Today, which we related to the idea that regardless of the kind of music sold by Music Today, the quality of the music itself is the finest.

Our colour palette for the design was simplified to red, black and white and the personalities in our advertisements provided the necessary colour within the standardised framework, including the idea that music adds a certain colour or personality to one's life. Our magazine advertisements maintained distinct identities with respect to the albums they were promoting, reflecting the particular design of the albums themselves.

The album designs were strongly congruent in not just the magazine advertisement but also in the promotional posters, CD and cassette designs, placing a certain weight on the attention given to products. The striking logo connected them all clearly to Music Today.
